Check out this little bugger that I found today in Del Mar, Dog Beach, CA. It's a Horn Shark.
The horn shark, Heterodontus francisci, is a bullhead shark. It can reach a size of 122 cm and is brown with black spots. Its range is from central California to the Gulf of California, Mexico, and probably also in Ecuador and Peru. It is mostly nocturnal and appears sluggish in the daytime. It can bite if it is harassed.
Its habitat includes rocky reefs, kelp beds, sand flats, crevices, and caverns in a depth range from 2 to 150 m. Adults tend to return to the same resting spot every day. It feeds on invertebrates, primarily sea urchins, crabs, probably abalone, and other fish.
The horn shark is oviparous, laying 12–14 cm (5 inches) long kelp-colored spiral-shaped eggs that may float up on beach shores.

Wade Lawson's Reno Template Big Wave Gun... I miss riding this board... bills claimed this one! I guess I'll just have to shape another one one day..
Here's my Reno Template Big Wave Gun. It now belongs to "Big Wave Wade" up near Mavericks.
Single Fin Box.
Down Railer.
Hugs the face, and gets you out of the Danger Zone!
No comment on the spray can paint job......
He suffered a broken back, damaged vertebrae, a collapsed and punctured lung, torn liver, and a broken leg. Believe it or not, the Big Wave Gun made it out unscathed... so I guess I can say my shapes have been proven to hold up at MAVS.
His comment to me was that Mav's is "REAL"... and that it was worth every bit of the thrashing.
I have to give Props to WADE!!! There aren't too many surfers who would take a thrashing at MAVS, call me up on the phone from his hospital bed, leave a message on my voicemail explaining the thrashing he took, and place an order for another board!!!!!!!
Thats true dedication!
