Goodbye, Gram... I love you, and you'll always be on my mind.
Maxine E. Davis(July 4, 1920 - October 18, 2008)
"Dee Dee Deedleledle dee dee dee... dee dee deedleledleee!"
Ol' Gramma! What a corker!
I'll never forget all of our great talks, and the fun we had researching our Native American ancestry. She was hero in her own right! I remember people asking me what I wanted to be when I grew up, and I would say, "An Indian!" I told Grandma that, and she gave me a Chief's head-dress.
My Grandma was a very special person, and I was very close to her.
I got to talk to her the night before she passed, but I had a gut feeling that it was the last time I'd get to talk with her (and it was). I let her know how much I loved her and told her about her newest great grand daughter, Eden. My oldest daughter's nick-name is Mickey, just like Grandma's. So her name will live on. Grandma had a beautiful life, and I know this was her time. So celebrate her life with a smile, and remember this Indian proverb that she once told me... "When you were born, you cried and the world rejoiced. Live your life in such a way that when you die, the world cries and YOU rejoice." I'll never forget that, and even though we've all shed our tears. I'm sure she is rejoicing in the fact that we will remember her and all of the great memories that she gave us. God bless.
